SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, provides professional knowledge for project construction administration of BJWSA Capital Improvement projects.
Coordinates activities to ensure projects are constructed in a timely and cost-effective manner using Industry Best Practices.
Duties include but are not limited to: Provides management and assistance for BJWSA Capital Improvement projects, specific to taking those projects from the bidding phase through construction and close-out.
Uses independent judgment to ensure projects are completed in timely and cost-effective manner in accordance with the best management practices of the construction/engineering industry.
Coordinates projects with Federal and State regulatory agencies, as applicable.
Performs technical tasks related to projects such as conducting formal regular construction progress meetings, review/approval of shop drawing submittals, technical review of alternatives and recommendations related to change orders, punch-list inspections, and related documentation.
Responsible for the completion, submission, and review of various required documents including internal project management report, regular progress reports, spend forecasting, updates to future CIP dashboard, departmental QA/QC procedures, agreements, and purchase orders.
Is responsible for technical oversight of assigned projects, including, but not limited to plan review and interpretation, consultant management, internal coordination, and communication of project needs.
Uses experience and discretion as a representative of the Authority at various public meetings and governmental agencies in the development of assigned projects.
Maintains project files, record files, and communicates in accordance with departmental requirements with consultants, contractors, and government officials.
Provides technical support to other departments, and input on systems operations and maintenance and construction management, when necessary.
Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering or related field, possess a minimum of one to five years’ experience in engineering related functions and project management with experience related to construction administration on infrastructure projects, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training license, preferred.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
