JobID: 14137 Position Type: Certified - District Office Date Posted: 6/23/2023 Location: HUMAN RESOURCES SERVICES DEPARTMENT POSITION PURPOSE: The LEAP Instructional Coach provides supportive services to candidates who are accepted into the Beaufort County’s alternative route to teacher certification program.
The Instructional Coach will lead the Teacher Support Team (TST) to provide teacher candidates with comprehensive guidance and assistance in educational theory and practice while helping candidates to develop the knowledge, skills, and disposition necessary for successful completion of the teacher certification process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Meeting with teachers to review requirements.
Scheduling and chairing TST meetings.
Evaluating the teacher on identified Professional Standards.
All documentation will be used as evidence of met competencies.
Completing and distributing the teacher's TST meeting records.
Serving as the liaison between the school and the Coordinator for teachers.
Observing and conferring in the teacher's classroom.
Completing and submitting documentation of observations and conferences, including structured evaluation of the teacher dispositions and professionalism, pre-post observation conferences, meetings to discuss review self-reflection of teaching competencies and associated assessments.
Evaluating, recording, and submitting all required assessment data using the designated program assessment rubrics.
All documentation will be used as evidence of met competencies.
Conferring with the school administrator during the visit(s).
Performing additional observations if recommended by a member of the TST.
Recording and submitting documentation to the Coordinator.
Notifying the Coordinator if problems occur or if the teacher is performing below the proficient level, to provide additional support.
Consulting with TST members about the teacher's progress to achieve all competencies and to recommend actions needed to support the teacher.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: erforms other related tasks as assigned by the Chief Administrative and Human Resources Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in a teaching/learning/education field is a minimum requirement.
Minimum of five (5) successful years teaching in South Carolina at the continuing-contract level.
Completed mentor and SCLEAD evaluation training in accordance with South Carolina guidelines to become a certified mentor and SCLEAD evaluator.
Has thorough knowledge of the ADEPT Performance Standards and the state’s academic standards for each discipline Has a thorough knowledge of researched-based instructional strategies and effective student assessment based on the state’s academic standards.
A high level of competency in data-driven instructional decisions.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficient in application of technology.
Must have the recommendation of the LEAP Coordinator.
EXPERIENCE: Experience as an effective South Carolina trained mentor and SCLEAD evaluator.
Minimum of five (5) successful years teaching in South Carolina at the continuing-contract level.
