JOB
The Cosmetology Instructor is responsible to the Division Dean of Business & Industrial Technology for the delivery of quality instruction and management of students enrolled in Cosmetology courses and advisement of students in the Cosmetology Diploma Program the Cosmetology Instructor will prepare students for entry-level Cosmetologist positions in salons, spas, and self-employment.
Will also provide State Licensure preparation.
Responsibilities occur in the areas of instructional development, teaching performance, student advisement, professional development, college and/or community service, and instructional management.
Duties and Responsibilities INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENTWork with members of the Cosmetology Advisory Committee to participate in planning for new and existing programs and courses.
Assist in the development of the Cosmetology curriculum Evaluate courses in the Cosmetology curriculum.
TEACHING PERFORMANCETeach courses as assigned and in accordance with the established syllabi.
Provide high quality instruction in Cosmetology for students on a regular basis.
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis.
STUDENT ADVISEMENTWork with the Student Services Division Advise and maintain records of assigned student adviseesProvide effective academic advisement for students enrolled in the Cosmetology Program.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTRepresent the Division and College by participating in community and professional meetings.
Attend relevant professional meetingsCOLLEGE AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICEActively initiate and perform effective student recruitment activities in high schools and in the community.
Implement marketing activities for Cosmetology program.
Serve actively on College committeesINSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENTMaintain proper control and effective use of all physical facilities and supplies in the assigned division.
Prepare reports required for the planning/reporting system.
Insure communication of policies, procedures, and campus information to all students.
Perform additional duties, as assigned by the division dean.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Required: Cosmetology Certificate or Degree from a State Board approved institution.
South Carolina Board of Cosmetology Instructor License.
